Heavy rainfall halts pioneering project works in the Bowmont

12th, July 2012

The continued heavy rainfall of the last couple of weeks has led to a temporary cessation in the exciting engineered logjam project underway in the Bowmont Valley.

These works need to be completed during the 'riverworks' season (June to September) as there is a requirement to work within the river channel.

The work needs low flow conditions in the river - something which has been at a premium this summer.

The remaining work will be completed once river levels drop to a suitable level again.

The high flows in the hill watercourses is also a reason behind other works falling behind schedule - namely the works proposed for the College Burn at Kirknewton. This job is now planned to be done during August - weather and flow conditions permitting.
